It is an area in the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club where, during the annual Wimbledon tennis championship, crowds of people without showcourt tickets can watch the tennis matches live on a giant television screen at the side of No. 1 Court.

The reason for this is not very certain, but the Wimbledon museum sources say that there is a myth that this could probably have had its origins from a particular practice of the captains in British Navy back in the 17th century when they came back from sea to their homes.
