Question Of The Day #57: Misleading!

The weekly theme for this week's questions shall be Summer Olympics.

This immortalized a special incident in the history of the Olympics. Why was this shown on the scorecard? What was the change necessitated because of this event? Put funda.

Nadia Comaneci makes history with her 'perfect 10' performance in Montreal Summer Olympics in 1976.
The Swiss company Omega scorecard had then room for three digits like 9.85 and could not display the four digits 10.00 (perfect score). So, they had to display the perfect score as 1.00.

After the event the scorecard had to be changed to make room for 4 digits for a perfect 10 score

  1. Nadia Comaneci was the first gymnast to achieve the perfect score of 10 in Olympic competition at the 1976 Montreal Games. Such a score had never before been achieved at the Olympics. This was shown because the scoreboard was not designed for double figures and the organisers instead had to display her score as 1.00.
