The practice was in place ever since the origin of the Wimbledon Championships. But, in 2003, HRH the Duke of Kent, the President of the All England Club decided to do away with this. What is being referred to here?

Previously, players bowed or curtsied to members of the Royal Family seated in the Royal Box upon entering or leaving Centre Court. In 2003, however, the President of the All England Club, His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, decided to discontinue the tradition.

Now, players are required to bow or curtsy only if HRH The Prince of Wales, or Her Majesty The Queen is present,[36] as was in practice during the 2010 Championships when the Queen was in attendance at Wimbledon on 24 June.[
